About Me:
Hello, my name is Jessica Smith! I am a fourth-year senior at the University of Cincinnati. My family, friends, and fur baby keep me laughing and always learning new things about people and life. I chose the University of Cincinnati not only because of the Darwin T. Turner Scholars program and excellent Anthropology department, but also because of the variety of opportunities that UC provides. Programs like University Honors, Turner Scholars, and Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. keep me very busy, but I enjoy being challenged.
Because there was not a degree in coffee drinking offered at UC, I am an Anthropology and History double major with a minor in Asian Studies and certificate in Japanese Language and Culture. I am always fascinated by people, and I love learning about history (especially that of Japan). In my free time, you could probably find me glued to a movie screen or the pages of a book. Most days, I might even be the person with a pen, making lists and planning my next adventure. I am always looking to get wrapped up in a story, and I believe that everyone has a story to tell. I am very passionate about helping people, and my friends often roll their eyes at my ability to end up having conversations with strangers while in line at a coffee shop or grocery store. One of the most important and influential things you can do for a person is simply listen to them. One day I hope to spend my time discovering the stories and lives within them of people all around the world, past and present. Traveling is also on the agenda, and after one trip to Japan, I can't wait to take advantages of other opportunities with UC to go abroad. As I make new connections with others, I hope to better understand not only the world around me, but also myself. This year is my last year at UC, and as I begin looking at Doctorate programs, I am looking forward to making the most of my time as an undergrad! |
